QSL Men’s R2 Preview

The rundown on Men's Div 1, Round 2 Fixtures

SATURDAY FIXTURES

Courier Mail Game of the Round: South West Metro Pirates v Brisbane Capitals

Brisbane Capitals will be hoping to leave last week’s defeat at the hands of Nathan Sobey’s clutch finish behind them as they head to Hibiscus Stadium this Saturday. With both teams are searching for their first win of the season, it’s a game you don’t want to miss. There’s also the added Brisbane Bullets element, with Bullets’ star Jason Cadee and young talent Cameron Goldfinch going up against Bullet’s teammates Tanner Krebs and potentially Matthew Hodgson if he takes to the court.

Players to Watch

It is hard to look past Cam Goldfinch after his impressive start to the season, recording 31 pts and 6 rebs last weekend. With Tanner Krebs also getting off to a great start putting away 29 pts and 16 rebs against a dominant Spartans side, it’s hard to see who’ll get the upper hand on Saturday.

Red City Roar v Northside Wizards

RedCity Roar ran all over Logan Thunder last weekend, scoring 122 to Thunder’s 109. Heavy favourites to take out the title this season with the likes of Harry Froling, Verle Williams Jnr and Will McDowell-White on their roster, they’ll be tough to be beat, especially at home.

SUNDAY FIXTURES

Courier Mail Game of the Round: Southern Districts Spartans v Gold Coast Rollers

Spartans will like their chances this weekend as Brisbane Bullets’ Anthony Drmic and Tyrell Harrison make their debuts against Gold Coast Rollers. Add Callum Dalton (27 pts, 9 rebs) and Tamuri Wigness (18 pts, 6 reb, 9 ast) and Rollers will have their work cut out for them.

Players to Watch

Drmic, Harrison, Wigness and Dalton are sure to bring the spark to the court on Sunday, but don’t discount Tidjane Diop (16 pts, 8 reb) for Gold Coast.

Sunshine Coast Phoenix Teal v Ipswich Force

Coming off their Round 1 win, Ipswich will be confident heading into this game with the firepower that Nathan Sobey can bring. While his game-winning four-point play was the talking point of Round 1, SC Phoenix Teal have some dangerous players of their own. Jamaal Robateu will be one to watch for the home side after his 12/13 from the free throw line against the Mountaineers last week.
